Why OptiFile

Built for organizations that take privacy seriously.

Designed for professionals who handle sensitive documents — a privacy-first tool, free for everyone to use.

N°1

Zero data transfer

Files stay in your browser's memory — never uploaded, stored, or transmitted. PDPA-compliant and GDPR-aligned by architecture, not by promise.

N°2

Format integrity

Text-based PDFs keep searchable text by default. Scanned PDFs can be rebuilt as optimized image PDFs for smaller file size.

N°3

Instant results

Your CPU is faster than a round-trip to a server. No queue, no upload bar — most documents finish in seconds.

Security architecture

Privacy isn't a setting.
It's the architecture.

Most online compressors require you to upload confidential files to remote servers. OptiFile runs entirely inside your browser's sandbox — no exceptions.

  • No server uploads, ever.
  • PDPA & GDPR compliant by design.
  • Memory cleared immediately after each operation.
  • Strict Content Security Policy — no inline scripts, no eval.

Questions

Things people often ask, answered honestly.

Is it really free, and really private?

Yes to both. Because compression happens locally in your browser via JavaScript and pdf.js, we have no server costs for storage or bandwidth — and no technical ability to see your files. Open the browser's Network tab and confirm: zero outbound transfers during compression.

Will my PDF still be readable after compression?

Yes. The balanced preset is tuned for school reports, announcements, and scanned documents. Choose the crisp preset when the file contains small text or detailed diagrams.

What about searchable text in PDFs?

We detect whether your PDF is text-based or scanned. Text-based PDFs keep their selectable text by default — only the embedded images are recompressed. Scanned PDFs (which are already images) get rasterized for maximum size reduction. You can override the detection from the options panel.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes — 50 MB. Larger files can exhaust browser memory on lower-end devices. For batches of large documents, we recommend a desktop tool instead.

Can I use this for confidential work documents?

That's exactly what it's built for. Because your file never leaves your machine, OptiFile is suitable for documents covered by PDPA, GDPR, attorney-client privilege, medical records, or internal corporate confidentiality policies — situations where uploading to a third-party server would be a compliance violation.
